Abstract
Transition from early intervention to preschool special education services can be a difficult time for the parents of a child requiring special needs. With the change in programs come many changes related to the services offered. An Individualized Family Service Plan [IFSPJ differs from an Individualized Education Program [IEPJ in many ways. As a child nears 3 years old, parents work with a team in deciding appropriate placement options and services for their child. John McFall School in Manteca, California, is a preschool operated by the San Joaquin County Office of Education to serve children with special needs. Parents often tour this site before deciding on it for their child's education. This project is the development of a parent handbook to explain the programs and services offered at John McFall School for students with severe needs. This resource will help make a difficult time in a family's life a more positive experience.
