Abstract
Nowadays, storage space limitation and network traffic conditions are a few of the main bottlenecks in video encoding. In addition, the size of video files tends to be very large. Hence, without efficient compression and encoding, today's multimedia market cannot progress further. H.264/AVC was developed by MPEG and ITU-T Video Coding Expert Group. It is the latest ITU-T video encoding standard, which achieves higher compression ratio than the earlier MPEG-4, and H.263 standards. H.264 video coding is the process of compressing and decompressing a digital video signal. Compared with previous standards, H.264 uses full networking framework, and streamlines the algorithms to achieve similar quality with much simpler mathematics. In this project, I focused on the implementation of H.264 Intra prediction module design in System Verilog.
