Abstract
The purpose of this project is twofold: (a) to create an interactive online module using Power Point (PP) software and (b) to examine the effectiveness of the module for undergraduate nursing students (UNSs) as an active learning modality. The PP module introduces concepts of endoscopy, addressing a gap in nursing curriculum, while utilizing interactive technology based on principles of good practice (Chickering & Erhmann, I 997). A pilot study was conducted, and a convenience sample of 10 first semester UNSs completed the endoscopy module. Participants were surveyed for perceptions of strengths and weakness of online learning using the nonlinear format of the module. The findings of the evaluation survey support nonlinear PP as a successful method of engaging active learning in web-based instruction among UNSs.
