Abstract
My past work derived from personal emotions of the world around me but I realized there is a need to express my work on a cognitive level, I was looking to be expressive or express my emotions by letting the painting be my guide and letting myself be the follower of what the painting needed. I have injected into my paintings a new visual control. I started to plan and use imagery that is more representative and merge it with my past style to express the physical qualities of the new paintings. This has helped me distance myself from the subject matter and be more critical of my work. I have based my work on indigenous mystical beliefs and their implications on the world today. In this way, the viewer can get a sense of the narrative without being overly literal. My goal with these paintings is to be able to relate both past and present and visualize a future for humanity. My paintings are exciting and visually charged and I believe people will enjoy, and hopefully, reflect on them.
