The intent of this study was to explore the educational experiences of Black males involved in the penal system. After conducting and analyzing the results from the one-on-one interviews, similarities were discovered between the participants even though they attended school at different times. After seeing the similarities between schooling experiences, recommendations are given in hopes that we can connect Black males to academic achievement and keep them out of the penal system.
