Abstract
The foremost purpose of Field Oriented Control is to control the electromagnetic torque of the squirrel cage induction wind generator and to absorb the maximum power from wind when the speed changes [3]. Wind is an act of nature and there are no means for humans to interfere with its speed when it comes to extracting power from it. However, it is possible to devise control schemes to extract maximum power from the wind through the turbine and generator. On the turbine’s side, maximum absorption of the wind power is carried by keeping the angle of attack in its optimum value. On the generator side, we need to control the angular speed or electromagnetic torque to absorb maximum power [3]. Field Oriented Control is one of the control schemes to be implemented on Squirrel-Cage Induction Generators to extract maximum power from the wind [3]. In this project, MALAB/ Simulink™ has been used to develop the required model and control schemes for Field Oriented Control.
