Abstract
For the past six years, the Sacramento State College has been training art teacher-candidates for the elementary and secondary schools within its prescribed service area as well as other parts of the State of California. Since no definitive data were available regarding the nature and extent of the art programs of the secondary schools, an examination of the programs was undertaken. The purpose was to provide helpful guidance to those responsible for the training of teachers in the field of art, to the placement office of the College, and to the prospective art teacher.
