Abstract
The research project examines the issue of delayed graduation among Hmong students at California State University, Sacramento by specifically exploring factors that hinder Hmong students from successfully graduating within four years of matriculating into the university as first-time freshmen. Convenience sampling and snowball sampling were used to gather 88 research participants. The exploratory study design employed the mixed method for developing the questionnaire, which consist of both quantitative and qualitative questions to gather information on students’ demographics and perceptions of factors that contribute to the low four-year graduation rate among the Hmong students. Study findings suggest that course impaction, lack of advising/unsure of major were the main reasons for the delay in graduating on time.
