Abstract
The present study investigates the relationships between social support, stress, well-being, and ambition with use of exploratory factor analysis and structural equation modeling. Congruent with previous research, social support was found to both directly and indirectly positively affect well-being. Particularly, the effect of social support on well-being is mediated by stress. Additionally, the current study found that social support directly and indirectly affects ambition as mediated through well-being. Altogether, these findings suggest that college institutional supports are important to students’ well-being and that a new measure of ambition would be useful for future research.
