Abstract
A limited amount of research has explored the impact of intersectional stereotypes on people’s behavior and attitudes. The present study examined the impact of intersectional stereotypes on backlash effect in job interview settings using the college sample. The present study hypothesized that applicants who do not conform to the intersectional stereotypes would experience the most from backlash. The present study collected participants from the psychology research pool at California State University, Sacramento. There was a total of 243 participants (23% men, 76% women, and 1% non-binary) in an ethnically diverse sample. Results showed that intersectional stereotypes did not have a significant impact on backlash effect. However, the present study did find a significant impact of gender and ethnic stereotypes on backlash.
