Abstract
Through the Masters of Art Studio program I was challenged to question the purpose of my work. In questioning what I create, I questioned why I create. This thesis serves as a summary of this exploration of significance in art created by myself over the span of the program. Delving into the imagery present from the beginning of the program, I researched artists who’s work struck similarities in both form and content to my own. This research along with significant periods of creating, critiquing, and editing my work, allowed for a cohesion of idea and visual elements. Although my practice has greatly developed, this is by no means a finished exploration.
