Abstract
This study explored the relationship between community school methodology and student success. The role of the social worker in facilitating the coordination and delivery of student support services in a community school model and the relationship to student success was likewise explored. The researchers used a quantitative survey research design, using an online survey instrument with Likert-type scale questions. The study sample method is a non-probability convenience sample that targets a subset of participants (n = 33) within the Sacramento City Unified School District, a district that utilizes a community school model. A significant relationship was found between the use of community school approaches and student success. The relationship between the role of the social worker in developing community school models and student success was also found to be significant. The associations were statistically significant in the Chi square tests. Implications for social work practice, policy and research are discussed.
