Abstract
As men’s and women’s game models begin to more closely resemble each other, current research is needed to determine what effects point scoring at each level and in each model to better determine training priorities. The purpose of this study was to determine if emergency defensive actions such as a dig and roll, pancake, dig to side body, or a dive had an effect on scoring in female junior college volleyball. Game footage was coded into primary and secondary categories and analyzed to assess if emergency defensive actions led to scoring at least three of the five points following the successful event. The hypothesis stated there would be no correlation between emergency defensive actions and point scoring. Results found there was no positive correlation between the two with a R^2 of .0244.
