Abstract
My project titled Elements Suite is a four movement composition running about 10 mins in duration. Each movement is titled after one of the four fundamental elements: earth, water, air, fire. Each movement has, or is intended to have, its own characteristic and besides the theming of titles is meant to be cohesive through the use of different ideas. These ideas I speak of are not tied specifically to the thematic material of the movement such as melody or harmony, but the mechanical pieces at work such as the use of texture and contrasting dynamics to name a few. In this project reflection I will go over my writing process throughout my time working on the piece, some challenges encountered, and the significance of this piece to my background and identity as a musician.
