Abstract
The process of retrieving information related to land ownership is necessary to allow for the sale or evaluation of the area. Many people want to either invest in real estate or for the purpose of building their houses or other infrastructure. For this purpose, a definite location or a property must be finalized through a proper vetting process. In the US, land ownership records are handled locally by the states and the respective counties. To effectively identify the boundaries of a parcel or a plot of land, the agencies need to be contacted. Most of the information on the land is stored physically which is quite tedious and time-consuming since it requires performing manual search and retrieval. There is an absence of effective and useful land information retrieval systems that provide accurate information in some of the states in the USA. This project aims to address this issue and provides an efficient land information system that can provide precise information related to a particular parcel or plot of land in Sacramento, California. To build an interactive land information system that can run on various platforms, a mobile application is designed using Codename One which is a cross-platform and Java-based mobile programming language. The use of Codename One allows the application to have a wide user-base and to be utilized across several different operating systems. To enable the application to have an ability to accurately extract the land location and to effectively view and save the location along with its related information, combination of tools including Google Maps, GPS, and SQLite database have also been utilized.
