Abstract
Problem of Significance: This project identifies depression in Hispanics as a significant health problem and focuses on the state of California which has the highest concentration of Hispanics in the United States of America.
Analysis: This section of the project provides an analysis of the health problem and utilizes the Socio-Ecological Model to identify the determinants of depression amongst California Hispanics.
Intervention Proposal: The proposed intervention includes a social media campaign utilizing Instagram and Facebook and monthly meetups of participants from the social media campaign. The proposed intervention aims to increase knowledge of depression, provide resources, and increase access to a mental health provider.
Conclusions Reached: With a growing Hispanic population, the need to create culturally competent care that is both accessible and destigmatizes depression will be important in reducing the rates of depression.
