Abstract
The Crocker Riverside Elementary 4th “R” After School Program Reference Manual ensures consistency within the workplace, standardizes the recreational aide’s (RAs) knowledge and skills, and incorporates facility safety measures. When making decisions that may affect the well-being of students, it is crucial that awareness of educational and safety practices that can affect all are in place. In creating this manual, current and future RAs will be able to inform staff of how to reduce injuries, illnesses, and what to do in response to emergency situations. Instances of bullying, fire drills, and active shootings are emphasized in this manual. Children are in school environments for long periods of their day and having a safe enriching environment is key to their educational journey. This manual increases staff awareness and effectiveness through the utilization of practices and integrates safety measures to care for 4th “R” participants.
