Abstract
The inclusion of students with disabilities in general education has been an essential topic of discussion for many years. However, numerous teachers were not taught how to teach students with disabilities, so they do not feel prepared to address the educational needs of these students fully. Therefore, it is imperative that the teachers be educated about the students they are serving and the practices and strategies they can implement to facilitate success. This paper includes a review of literature on creating a successful inclusive classroom and a handbook designed to provide teachers with a basic knowledge of inclusion and to equip them with strategies and tools to create a learning environment that helps all students with and without disabilities have academic success. The handbook includes an introduction to inclusion and best teaching strategies in three critical areas: (1) collaboration, (2) professional development, and (3) a positive classroom environment.
