Abstract
Paintings do not illustrate a topic, but instead come from an inner deeper place inside of their maker, derived from the maker’s own individual human experience. Finding that inner place requires a process of peeling away layers to reach the core of the creator. From there, an artist must discover methods to convey the content at the core of their being. I will speak to three key experiences and reveal how they have led to the overall conceptualization of my current artwork. While working towards my graduate degree, I discovered that sports, food allergies, and my experience of identity have informed this body of work. Essentially, my paintings are a visually realized extension of myself.
