Abstract
This study researched factors that contributed to Latino students’ entry into Sacramento State. The reason for this study in the field of social work is to determine the factors that contribute to Latinos students’ entry and success at Sacramento State. This study was a non-probability, purposive sampling that consisted of sixty students that were given a questionnaire to determine factors that contribute to going to college. The findings showed that although teachers encouraged Latino students the motivation given by the parents was the greatest factor contributing to Latino students going to college. In the future, School Social Workers can better serve parents in native language this would break the language barrier and would help students as well. Additionally, research needs to be done in the Latino community to best understand and serve this targeted population.
