Abstract
Community colleges continues to be a popular path into higher education for many aspiring students. This study attempts to analyze post-transfer academic outcomes for a cohort of community college students who enrolled during Fall 2012 at a public four-year university. Using institutional data, a Logistic and Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regressions was performed to investigate several post-transfer outcomes, such as Bachelor’s degree attainment, time to degree, and overall academic achievement. The results suggest that transfer units were not a significant factor in earning a Bachelor degree within four years, but was a significant factor in reducing for time to degree and increasing overall GPA. In addition, transfer GPA was a strong predictor of success for all tree post-transfer outcomes.
