Abstract
My project is an Alternative Culmination Experience for a Master of Arts in Education: Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis on Arts in Education. It follows Pathway I: Artist as Educator, which develops knowledge and skills in a particular area of the arts with a disposition towards applying the acquired expertise to arts education in a classroom setting. This project focused on the universality in art represented through cultural mythologies. The author created four oil paintings depicting the universal concepts of life, death, rebirth, and transcendence, applying newly learned painting skills and techniques. The final art pieces will be shared with fellow cohorts through an art show at the culmination of the master‟s program.
