Abstract
The research study is aimed to identify factors that attribute to the high rate of incarceration and the implications of parental incarceration. The research study is aimed to identify evidenced-based practice for incarcerated offenders. The research study is also aimed to examine the perceptions and attitudes of correctional officers, medical professionals, and social workers providing services to incarcerated parents. The research study examines the mental and physical impact of incarceration, racial disparities, disproportionate minority confinement (DMC), co-parenting, and kinship. One major finding in this study suggest that social workers in the community and in-prison social workers should collaborate to provide comprehensive services to children with incarcerated parents.
