Abstract
Electricity is an essential component of a human life. Electricity is generated from various sources. In California, natural gas plants, renewables, nuclear plants, and large hydro make up the in-state generation. Each resource is unique and has their pros and cons. This project describes different resources' background and history, mechanics of operations, and government regulations. The goal of this project is to compare and rank each source based on five different criteria: renewability, production cost, government programs, availability, and future outlook. Each category has a 1-10 scale, while government programs have a 1-5 scale. The totals from each criterion were summed up and the sources of energy in California were ranked.
