Abstract
This research project aims to assess the unique stress and coping for elementary students at two schools in Galt, Ca and their capacities and strategies in coping with these challenges. Research has shown that students in public schools with standardized testing have much more stress and anxiety than in previous years due to the recent emphasis in test taking. Studies also show that students struggle with stress and anxiety at home. It was observed by one of the researchers while working at these two schools, that students also have added stress and anxiety due to their socioeconomic concerns, language barriers, and acculturation factors. For this reason the researchers hypothesize that students who go to these two elementary schools in Galt, Ca, have added stress and anxiety. The study findings supported the researchers’ hypothesis.
