Abstract
This Project is an Alternative Culminating Experience for a Master of Arts in Education: Curriculum and Instruction with an Elective Emphasis on Arts in Education. It follows Pathway V: Arts Educator as advocate and leader. The purpose of this project was to determine the effectiveness of the strategies for the Visual and Performing Arts included in the district adopted Language Arts curriculum for Grade One adequately integrated the California State Standards for the Visual and Performing Arts. At the end of the Project the researcher came to the conclusion that the adopted Language Arts Curriculum did not meet the Visual and Performing Arts $tandards because it did not adequately address the four art disciplines: dance, music, theatre and visual arts.
