Abstract
Statement of Purpose
The purpose of this project is to design a pumped hydro storage facility in San Vicente, California. This will include analyzing the site conditions, gathering data, and performing calculations to determine if this facility will be able to generate and store enough power to meet the demands of the San Diego County Water Authority.
Sources of Data
Data for this project was collected from the San Diego County Water Authority, California Data Exchange Center, California ISO, and California Irrigation Management Information System. The data collected includes the initial site conditions, rainfall data, relative humidity, temperature, energy usage, and solar radiation data.
Conclusions Reached
This project concludes that the San Vicente location is a feasible location for a pumped hydro storage facility. The facility will be able to meet or exceed the energy generation and storage requirements obtained from the San Diego County Water Authority.
