Abstract
As IC technology is rapidly growing, problems related to high frequency in high speed digital designs is increasing, which is causing interconnect effects such as distortion, ringing and crosstalk. Apart from these effects, the major effect that causes propagation delay in on-chip interconnects is skin effect. Skin effect causes the effective resistance of the material to increase with the increase in the frequency of the current. To reduce this skin effect many efficient models have been derived. The goal of this project is to analyze the skin-effect issues and to decrease the delay caused' by the skin effect in on-chip interconnects in the rapidly emerging IC technology. In this project, analysis of these skin effects is achieved by using already generated models on skin effect reduction. The tools used to analyze some models on skin effect are Matlab, P-Spice and ADS.
