Abstract
This study provides insight in regards to an evaluation of a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) group program located within a mental heath agency in Sacramento, California. The purpose of the group is to assess whether the clients’ mindfulness and emotional regulation have improved through the DBT program by comparing the outcomes measured at the first week of the DBT program group and the outcomes measured at the last week of the group. The target population was defined as individuals with a diagnosis of either Borderline Personality Disorder or Bipolar Disorder. The DBT group met weekly for a total of 10 weeks. The mental health agency conducted the data collection and released the data as a secondary dataset. The results indicate that the target population did find the (DBT) helpful by indicating some changes in learning mindfulness techniques and ways to regulate emotions from participating in this DBT group program.
