Abstract
Problem Significance
Depression is a public health concern as it is estimated to be affecting approximately two million older adults. Depression is an important issue to address as we are all expected to be there at one point in our life; we are all going to age and go through the aging process.
Analysis and Objectives
A review of the literature demonstrates the importance of addressing both the behavioral (Self-criticism) and environmental (Indoor pollution) issues contributing to this problem of depression. Addressing the factors contributing to the problem will allow for improvements in the mental well-being of Latinx older adults and all other age groups.
Intervention (Solution) Proposal
Two significant components contributing to depression are self-criticism and poor ventilation in older adults’ homes. Addressing these components will improve the overall mental well-being of the older community in the 95814-zip code.
Recommendations and Conclusions
Latinx Older adults are among the largest growing population in the United States for the upcoming years. Improving behavioral and environmental factors affecting mental well-being during the aging process is crucial to a healthier older adults’ population.
