Abstract
The purpose of this exploratory study was to examine the reasons for lack of services for African immigrants in Sacramento County. The study indicated that the growth of African immigrants in Sacramento is due to the continuous civil wars that started in the 19th century in African countries such as: Democratic Republic of Congo or Zaire, Ethiopia, Liberia, Somalia, the Sudan, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Ivory Coast or Cote D'lviore, Rwanda, Burundi, Eritrea, Ghana, Mali, Benin, Cameroon, Nigeria among other countries. The primary method of data collection included interviews conducted with twenty African immigrants living in Sacramento, California from thirteen African countries with the most recent African immigrants arriving within the last five years. The findings indicate that the immigrants from these African countries depended on the network of supporters, through their churches, mosques and local organizations. The study also detailed the reasons for poor service delivery to African immigrants in Sacramento County.
