Abstract
The graduating class of2008 became the first class of Special Education students who needed to pass both sections of the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) in order to graduate with a diploma. Unfortunately, only approximately 50% of those students passed. Recent research has discovered that fourth grade classroom behavior is a successful predictor of future CAHSEE success. Those students who misbehave in class and who are often truant from school tend to do more poorly on the CAHSEE than those students who attend school more frequently and who are relatively better behaved. This project makes a plan that attempts to improve school behavior in order to improve CAHSEE success at the high school level, with the goal of being able to share positive findings with fourth grade teachers (as well as others) within the district.
