Abstract
The purpose of this research is to understand the likelihood and impact of substance use determining whether substance users are willing to seek treatment, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the American Community Survey (ACS); the data provided a consistent sample size of 50 states as well as data used to determine various state-level variables. The results concluded that treatment was vastly affected by the pandemic at a state level. The substances examined provided minimal context on its impact of whether states would provide treatment for substance use. Policy implications and limitations also discussed future substance use and treatment center related policies.
