Abstract
Statement of the Problem
One of the major concerns in today's education is to motivate students to learn. Teachers are challenged daily by students who do not seem interested in learning mathematics. Ten instructional games were used in this project to align with the California Mathematics Framework and were intended to motivate students to learn mathematics in grade fourth through eighth.
Sources of Data
Information was obtained through research of the related literature, books, professional journals, and theses. Data sources included, but were not limited to, the National Center for Education Statistics, the U.S. Department of Education, ERIC (ESCO), Education Full Text (Wilson), PsychINFO (EBSCO), and the California Mathematics Framework.
Conclusions Reached
This supplemental games curriculum can be used to help students who are struggling in mathematics by increasing their involvement and interest in the topic .
