Abstract
The purpose of this report is to improve the quality of the University Reading and Writing Center (URWC) and Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) by integrating more oral communication into their services. The report is intended for the University Reading and Writing Center Coordinator and the Faculty Senate Reading and Writing Subcommittee to evaluate their current programs and consider areas to integrate oral communication. The report relies on research gathered from model Communication Across the Curriculum (CAC) programs at five universities: University of Rhode Island (URI), Louisiana State University (LSU), Clemson University (CU), North Carolina State University (NCSU) and University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG). This report then provides recommendations to CSUS on ways to integrate CAC elements and techniques into two preexisting programs at CSUS: URWC and the WAC program.
