Statement of the Problem
This quantitative study provides an update to determine the frequency of inclusion of gender and gender-related terms in children's literature syllabi course learning outcomes. The study focused on the following questions: do children's literature courses syllabi include gender and gender-related terms in their learning outcomes; what is the frequency of inclusion of gender, multicultural, diversity, and social justice in learning outcomes; and how does the frequency inclusion of gender inclusion compare to multicultural, diversity, social justice listed in learning outcomes?
Sources of Data
This study included children’s literature course syllabi publicly available on the internet. There were 33 children’s literature course syllabi learning outcomes examined for this research. Quantitative methods were used to tally data from the course syllabi learning outcomes to determine the frequency of inclusion of gender, gender-related terms, multicultural, diversity and social justice.
