Abstract
There is a lack of available information and knowledge of the senior gay and lesbian population over the age of 60 surrounding needs that are not addressed within the boundaries of Sacramento County. There have been no recent studies conducted within Sacramento County to explore these unmet needs. This project was done to collect and disseminate the information gathered via a questionnaire (see Appendix A) and distributed to qualified participants living within the boundaries of Sacramento County. The survey consisted of 35 questions. Of the 32 surveys distributed 25 were returned, a response rate of 78%. The male participants identified problems of income, health, isolation, loneliness, and lack of socialization. The females are, remarkably, in excellent health, are active in their lives with friends, social activities, highly educated, had significant income differences from the males, and had no specific identifiable problems.
