Abstract
After the Vietnam War, many Hmong people arrive in the United States. Due to the lack of education background and limited English language skills, many of the Hmong people are struggling with the American educational systems in many ways. The purpose of this research study is to understand which dimensions are important to include in development of a culture awareness curriculum to culturally prepare the helping professionals in the educational settings to best serving the Hmong community. The primary data collection technique was done through a series of open-ended questions and a general demographic of twenty participants. The participants were married couples and had school age children. The findings of this study suggest that the Hmong history, the Hmong family systems, the Hmong family values, the Hmong language, and the Hmong religion practice remain as the most important aspects of the Hmong Community.
