Abstract
First-generation college students frequently encounter distinctive obstacles across academic, finance, career, cultural, and social dimensions in the higher education journey due to factors such as limited familial experience with college, financial constraints, and unfamiliarity with the admissions process. Recognizing the difficulties faced by these students, this paper introduces 1GenSuccess, a web-based application developed specifically for first-generation college students in the Sacramento Area. Utilizing React, JavaScript, Python Flask, OpenAI assistants API, and the GPT model, 1GenSuccess offers a personalized roadmap and a comprehensive suite of resources to empower these students on their educational journey. Through data collected from various internet sources and queries sent to the GPT model via OpenAI assistants API, 1GenSuccess aims to bridge the gap in access and information for first-generation college students, achieving academic, financial, and career success.
