Abstract
A female patient aged 62 years old with left shoulder adhesive capsulitis was seen for physical therapy treatment for 12 sessions in an outpatient orthopedic clinic from the dates of 6/22/18-8/16/18. Treatment was provided by a student physical therapist under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. The plan of care was established after the patient was evaluated at the initial encounter with the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index, manual muscle testing, goniometry, and Numeric Pain Rating Scale. The main goals for the patient were to become independent in a home exercise program, improve strength, decrease pain, improve global range of motion and regain complete function of left shoulder. The main interventions used were joint mobilizations, passive and active range of motion, stretching and therapeutic exercises. The patient improved in strength, global shoulder range of motion, pain and function. The patient was discharged home to continue her exercise program that addressed her remaining symptoms.
