Abstract
A patient with left hip osteoarthritis was seen for physical therapy (PT) treatment for 4 sessions from March to April 2017 at a university outpatient pro bono PT clinic. Treatment was provided by a student physical therapist under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. The patient was evaluated with a goniometer for range of motion, manual muscle test for strength, and numeric pain rating scale for pain at the body structure and function level. The Lower Extremity Functional Scale was used to assess the patient's activity level. Interventions provided were manual therapy, strength training, patient education, and functional training. The patient improved left hip range of motion, strength, pain, and lower extremity function. He was discharged to home with a home exercise program.
