A self-described "voracious reader," [Davidson] (Columbia Univ.) offers a "sampler of sentences [she has] loved." Part memoir and part " anthology of prose styles," the book touches on a wide range of literary works, brought together by Davidson because of the stylistic effects she observes about them.
