Abstract
When one loses a child one is undoubtedly filled with sorrow, regret, and self-doubt, but at least one can consciously try to comprehend what transpired. [...]if there is a body, one can have some closure, however unsatisfying, with one's bereavement. [...]in 1997, they learned that Megumi had been kidnapped by North Korean agents and taken to North Korea where she was forced to teach North Koreans Japanese. The North Koreans claim that Megumi killed herself in 1994, but the Yokotas are suspicious of these claims. Since this book is a translation of a 1997 book, the text does not say what transpired after that date.
