Abstract
Academia is a hierarchical structure where institutional racism and sexism persist. The lack of racial/ethnic representation among tenure-track faculty has long plagued academia. Research focused on exploring racial and ethnic bias and negative stereotypes generally highlights the challenges encountered by Black and white faculty only. The literature has yet to fully explore the challenges and barriers that Latinx faculty face as they navigate the tenure and promotion process (Anderson and Smith 2005).
