John moore, a photographer for Getty and a Pulitzer Prize winner, captured a horrendous yet captivating moment on the U.S.-Mexico border in 2018: a two-year-old Honduran child crying as her guardian was apprehended.¹ That year, explicit photographs such as Moore’s, exposing the pain and suffering of Central American women, men, and children, filled the front pages of the news media. Throughout 2018 and the rest of the Trump administration, American audiences witnessed the unimaginable violence occurring at the border as children were separated from their families.
