Abstract
This book is the result of the decision of the two governments of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam and the French Republic to celebrate the France-Việt Nam, and Việt Nam-France year in 2013-2014. Held at the Academy of Overseas Sciences, the first overseas talks focused on the theme of colonial Indochina in Vietnam today. If Việt Nam enjoys from France a very strong memory, from the colonial Empire to the current globalization, despite the painful events of the war of independence, it has become a leading player in the globalized economy, an influential member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and a leading partner of La Francophonie.
