Abstract
Thursday. Chant again (see Tuesday) the five new words introduced on Monday.
Now help students see how knowing these words can help them recognize and
spell other words they may not yet know. Using related forms of the words taught
(see Appendix D.2), ask students to decode, spell, and discuss meanings for these
words. For example, have students pronounce declassify, note its spelling (add
“de” to “classify”), and talk about its meaning as undoing what had been done, or
classified. Other words to use could be classification, freezer, subfreezing, beautifully, powerful, hopeful, communication, mystify, and certify.
