Abstract
Design and implementation of digital image system is done using Xilinx 3E FPGA, VGA monitor, Spartan 3E kit, C3088 CMOS image sensor and Cypress CY7C199CN SRAM. Whole design was implemented on Xilinx' s Spartan 3E starter kit. The objective of this project is to capture the image generated by CMOS image sensor, store the image into SRAM and display it on the VGA monitor. Image generate by c3088 CMOS image sensor is in Common Intermediate Format (CIF) and hence it is converted to VGA format for display on the regular VGA monitor. Separate synchronizer is implemented to fit horizontal and vertical synchronization signals into VGA format
Since the whole design includes a large amount of work for a single student, the work was divided in to two parts between two students. This portion of the project mainly focused on display of image which is already stored in SRAM.
